Sunday School

Over the last few years St Paul's Church has built up a thriving Sunday School. It takes place every Sunday morning from 9.30 to 10.30 and is run by members of the congregation.

The children are divided into three groups as follows:

Creche (0 -3 years)
The creche provides supervision for our smallest church members so as to enable parents to attend the regular service.

Juniors (4-7 years) and Seniors (8-12 years)
The junior and senior groups study various aspect of the Bible through the use of the 'Come Learn God's Word' series. This means that both groups study the same topic each week, but using age appropriate materials. The children begin their lessons together with songs and prayers and then separate into their age-related groups. The Sunday School also plays an active part in the church service by attending the Communion in church each week and by providing songs and plays for major church festivals such as Harvest Festival, Christmas and Easter.

The Sunday School's best-known event is the Christingle Service. This is a Christmas service prepared by children for children. The Sunday School children prepare a nativity play, recite prayers, sing carols, hear a Christmas story and meet "Father Christmas." The highlight of the service each year is the making and lighting of the Christingle candles, which takes place at the end of the service.
